Solar power buyback
I have recently installed solar and have been looking at the retailer options.
What I find really unfair is the price the retailer buys your export energy for.
For example mercury who I am currently with pay 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour and charge me 29 cents per kilowatt hour.
Looks like a better option is meridian who offers 17 cents per kilowatt hours buyback and 30 cents per kilowatt hour charge but you have to sign 3 year contract.
I heard that the electricity authority has made some changes regarding the buyback rate but this will only come into effect June 2026.
