It said neighbours had raised concerns about the size of the garden and access to a washing line.
Wang had lovingly tended the garden at her Addington social housing unit for the past 10 years. She grew 14 kinds of vegetables and 13 varieties of rare Chinese herbs. One small patch of Chinese radish remains.
ŌCHT has “unreservedly apologised” for not telling Wang it planned to bring the digger in on Monday, but it stands by its decision to turn the garden into grass.
However, on Wednesday, ŌCHT tenancy operations manager Martin Pearce said the trust wanted to make things right and raised beds would be installed at the end of this week.

Here the girls go through their drills, demonstrating surprising precision for so many pupils from so many schools. The open-air movement has highlighted the need for physical fitness training and the virtues of outdoor activity. Schools have responded with regular drill sessions and outdoor games. With increasing numbers of children seen to be destined for sedentary lifestyles, and with the British Empire at war with the Axis forces, fitness and hardiness are being strongly promoted.

Merivale netballer Henrietta Williamson, 8, was walking on air when she met the superstars of netball at Christchurch Arena's Tactix vs Mystics ANZ Premiership game on Monday.
St Margaret’s College student Henrietta won the chance to meet Jane Watson (Tactix) and Sulu Fitzpatrick (Mystics) and lead the teams onto the court as a part of the ANZ Future Captains programme. Best friend nine-year-old Harriet Gough accompanied her.
Henrietta was awestruck seeing the elite teams caught in a tie breaker.
“It was a really exciting game. In the last eight seconds, the Tactix scored a winning goal. I was so excited, I jumped into the air,” she said.
The programme gives 94 young people from Aotearoa the chance to be part of the ANZ Premiership and to meet their netball heroes as an ANZ Future Captain.
Applications for the ANZ Future Captains programme are open at anzcourtside.co.nz

Cleaning your windows should be a regular routine as having a build-up of dirt and other filth can lead to problems further down the road and potentially cost you more money, and heat efficiency.
You can keep your new windows looking their best for many years by following a few simple tips:
- Vacuum inside the frame and hinges
- Brush off dirt
- Use a warm soapy solution and a soft cloth or sponge to wipe down the dirty window
- Rinse with clean water
Windows have working parts so it's essential that these parts are well maintained to ease the friction of the moving parts inside your window frames.
To keep your windows in great condition for years it's best to keep the inner chambers of your windows clean and clear of built-up residue.
If you need an expert to assess your windows & doors, give us a call today on 0800 252500 or click the link to book a visit!
