LOCATED and BACK home - Jack Russell dog - Partially blind & almost deaf - 16 years old

Lesley from Saint Johns

A big thank you to all the caring and helpful people who helped me find Rupert. Now home and very tired and sleeping on my bed.

I thought I had let Neighbourly know I had found him on Saturday but think I posted the info in one of the replies - amazing what a lack of sleep will do.

Thank you all for being concerned and particularly Kim from Rottweilers Retrieve who was amazing searching the bushy areas on her trusty scooter. Also Josh, the gameskeeper at the golf course who searched with us and went the extra mile by searching for him in his car after he finished work. Lost Pet Finders, I can’t recommend enough - they sent out Pet Alerts to 1000s if people in the area, who then actively look for your dog whilst walking theirs or just go for a walk to see if they can sight including local vets in the area.
Thanks also to Gen and Rachel for placing notices everywhere in Facebook and many dog places I wouldn’t have known about, plus Carol from North Shore who called with the info he’d been found and Kay a lovely lady not far from us providing info and sympathy on our search plus all the people who wrote in to Neighbourly. What a fabulous community👏
👩🏻‍🦳 Lesley 🐶 & Rupert

Rupert - Black white & tan - went missing before his dinner at 9pm and was sighted at 9.20pm in the Remuera golf course by Josh who works there (the outdoor lights were on the green and we can pinpoint this at 9.30pm) Josh was very helpful and tried to find him with us.
We have looked for him in this area in the dark including the neighbouring Waiatarua park but apart from the one sighting have not located him and its a huge area.
Although old he still can get around but may be confused due to a digger being in his usual pathway at our home and I think this is why he was spotted in the golf course.

Please call me if you find him - he is microchipped but had his collar off as he was due for a bath (doesn't usually hide), and pretty friendly, plus he will be hungry and I'm worried at how cold it is out - he gets cold in the house!

If you take your dog for a walk at Waiatarua Reserve - please keep a look out for him.
