It encourages intentionality in keeping possessions, focusing on what is truly cherished, practically useful, and letting go of what is not. This philosophy can be applied to various aspects of life, including physical possessions, relationships, and even past experiences.

Applying the principle:

Keep What You Love:
This involves identifying items that hold significant sentimental value or are truly cherished and used regularly. These are the items that bring joy and add value to your life.

Store What You Need:
This refers to items that are necessary for daily life or occasional use but don't necessarily evoke strong emotions. These can be stored in a way that is accessible when needed but doesn't clutter the living space.

Let Go of the Rest:
This involves parting with items that are no longer needed, used, or loved. This can include items that are broken, outdated, or simply cluttering up space. Letting go can be freeing and allows for a more minimalist and organized environment.

Benefits of adopting this principle:

Reduced Clutter:
By letting go of unnecessary items, you can create a more organized and visually appealing living space.

Increased Clarity:

Simplifying your surroundings can lead to a clearer mind and reduced stress.

More Freedom:
Fewer possessions can mean less time spent cleaning, organizing, and managing belongings, allowing for more freedom to pursue other interests.

Stronger Relationships:
Applying this principle to relationships can involve prioritizing meaningful connections and letting go of toxic or draining relationships.

Growth and Transformation:
By letting go of past mistakes and regrets, you can create space for personal growth and a more positive outlook on the future.

A few weeks ago, the Neighbourly team shared a round of complaints over our morning cuppa about the challenges of juggling runny noses and work commitments.

After reading Flip Grater's opinion piece, Playing germ roulette with our kids’ health, we felt a collective sense of relief - another parent shares our niggling worries.

We wanted to check in with our online neighbours: do you feel the same way? We are all busy, and keeping children home from school is sometimes impossible given other responsibilities. Busy lives and the apparent loss of collective energy around monitoring cold symptoms have led to more students and staff in shared spaces with sniffles and coughs.
But what do you think? Is this a concern?

We want to know: Are there clear Guidelines on when to keep kids off of school?
Should we be having a nuanced conversation about risk management, and how to better support working families?
Share your opinion with us below!

Kiwi pukupuku (the little spotted kiwi) have been rediscovered in the wild on mainland Aotearoa New Zealand for the first time in five decades!

The pukupuku is the smallest and one of the most vulnerable kiwi species. Only around 2000 birds remain on offshore islands and predator-free sanctuaries, and are the descendants of just 5 birds which had been translocated to Kapiti Island from South Westland in 1912.

The March discovery in the remote Adams Wilderness Area, on the West Coast, is definitely choice news.

Ka pai to the amazing investigation team: DOC biodiversity ranger Iain Graham and his conservation dog, Brew!

We hope this news brings a smile!

TΔ“nā koe (Hi) Everyone,

I trust this request finds you well.

I am writing to seek your support for my sponsorship request.

I am an Old Boy of Auckland Grammar, as well as I am an alpine skier who began with Special Olympics New Zealand and now proudly represent New Zealand under Virtus International, which is the global governing organisation for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment.

Paralympics NZ is the affiliated national member organisation for Virtus in New Zealand, overseeing the elite sporting pathways and developmental opportunities for eligible athletes.

Furthermore, I have been officially endorsed and classified within Virtus Sports International to represent New Zealand at the upcoming Virtus World Winter Games early next year, where I am the only athlete competing in Alpine Skiing under this classification at present.

Notably, I was a Double Gold Medallist at the 2007 and 2011 Special Olympics National Winter Games and a nominee for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games held in Boise, Idaho, as a non-travelling reserve.

Moreover, I represented the Country at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, where he was placed 6th in the Super Giant Slalom and 7th in the Giant Slalom. Moreso, I won a Bronze medal in the Slalom event.

Thus, I remain fully committed to my ongoing training and physical conditioning, with the goal of representing New Zealand to the highest standard so I can bring home a medal from the upcoming Virtus World Winter Games.

I sincerely hope that you can support me financially and partner with me as a sponsor for my intended duration in Queenstown for the winter season. On that note, I will be competing at the upcoming New Zealand Open Para National Champs, held in Cardrona, which will enable me to gain valuable experience in NZ. Here is the link to the event details: www.snowsports.co.nz....

Hence, I have to leave Auckland soon for my participation and training for the NZ Open Para National Champs.

In light of the above, if you are a corporate company or an organisation that is willing to assist me in this request of mine, I would be happy to put your logo on all my gear to show my gratitude for your support, alongside that of my sponsored hotel. Please send me a private message accordingly.

Thus, I remain fully committed to my ongoing training and physical conditioning, with the goal of representing New Zealand to the highest standard so I can bring home a medal from the upcoming Virtus World Winter Games.

On that note, it would be great to have your backing in supporting me financially, by enabling me to represent our country on the International stage.

Please kindly support me in this request of mine, by heading to my Give a Little page via this link: givealittle.co.nz... .

I would greatly appreciate any financial or other support you can offer to help me pursue my pathway as an elite athlete.

Thank - you.
