Variety fears for kids this winter.

Variety

Ben sleeps on a mouldy mattress on the floor. 1 in 10 Kiwi kids in our poorest communities don’t have their own bed, which puts them at risk from life-threatening illnesses like rheumatic fever.

During winter, a bed is a sanctuary from the cold – and diseases that come with it. A bed for Ben, and tamariki like him, would mean a warm and good night's sleep so they can stay healthy and concentrate at school.

With your support, we aim to provide 1,100 children with beds and warm bedding. Donate today to provide beds and bedding for Kiwi kids.

ducks all dying at Portland Road Reserve

Carolyn from Remuera

I have contacted council re the local friendly ducks all mostly dead and more still dying each day at Portland Road Reserve. The water is toxic and council have been testing it to find out what caused it! It is not botulism. Perhaps drainage of some sort into the water? Sadly all the regular friendly ducks that school children often would come and visit are now dead. Every day there are more ducks either dead or dying at the reserve. A very sad time for the locals who love them to watch them slowly die and gasping for breath.

'We are so sad': Parents of missing French teen Eloi Rolland search for answers in NZ

Caroline Williams Reporter from Auckland Stuff

French teen Eloi Rolland, who has been missing in Auckland since March 2020, told his family he wanted to bring them to New Zealand.

More than two years after his disappearance, his parents Thierry and Catherine Rolland have finally arrived from France.

They do not know what happened to their son, and they’re desperate for answers.

“We don’t know what’s happened,” Catherine said. “We realise he is perhaps in another place.”

But the couple remain hopeful that Eloi is alive and well and said they would always be there for him.
