Employers for a Safe & Respectful Workplace
đ¨ Employers, your role in creating a safe and respectful workplace matters.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Employment Relations Act, you're responsible for the well-being of employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and visitors in your workplace.
Hereâs what that looks like in action:
â
Provide a safe and secure environment
â
Take all reasonably practicable steps to prevent harmâphysical or psychological
â
Actively address health and safety concerns raised by staff
đ That includes having clear policies against bullying, harassment, and discriminationâwith processes everyone can follow to resolve issues.
To build a respectful workplace culture:
đĽ Model respectful behaviour as a leader
đ¤ Involve workers in shaping anti-bullying policies
đ Offer training and workshops on bullying, harassment, and anti-racism
đ§ Equip managers to intervene early
đŁď¸ Make reporting options clearâboth informal and formal
đŹ Nominate a go-to support person, like an HR adviser
Letâs work together to create a workplace where everyone feels safe, heard, and respected.
