UPDATE Sun Jan 29 19:49 Just received Emergency Alert on my phone. At least I now know my phone works to receive these. Surprised and concerned that none was sent out on Fri night.

Did anyone receive any alerts? Got nothing on my phone or email. I am signed up for their emails and get their Emergency Management stuff regularly but nothing about the current flooding. Also have received phone alerts in the past, but nothing about the current situation. Am very concerned about this.

The Ministry of Social Development is reporting that fake information is circulating about new ‘December bonuses’ or ‘benefit increases’

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
