Hey there Neighborly neighbours!

Does anyone in Onehunga/Penrose area have any idea or know where the incessant and very loud car burnouts noise, that has been going on non stop all day today (Sunday) is generating from? I thought maybe Waikaraka park speedway, but in order to contact them, you have to call council, and can't get through to them as I'm sure they are inundated dealing with helping Flood and Cyclone victims. We get ONE quiet day around here, with no loud construction noise(big building site opposite my house), and the incessant screeching tyres and loud revving engines noise is doing my head in, so if I could identify it's origin, I might be able to get appropriate people/agency to deal with it. I do know decibel level noise limits are greatly reduced on Sundays for residential areas. I think around 40-50 decibels. This is definitely over that. Anyway, any light anyone can shed would be great! Thanks.

Rotary gives me diverse ways to serve my local community, country and overseas. Great fun and company. I’ve packed food boxes, played badminton with kids, organized a market stall and loads more.
It fits in with my variable lifestyle. I’m a landscape designer. I can pick and choose what events I attend, and generally there is no obligation to turn up. I appreciate the tactful guidance and support the Rotarians with expertise give me.
I find the speakers who come to our Friday morning meetings interesting, and the food is good too.
I’m a kiwi lady in my 50’s .

Auckland Emergency Services are asking people to stay away from West Coast beach communities which are trying to recover from last week’s storm.

What you need to know:
- The affected beaches are Piha, Karekare, Bethells, Muriwai, Huia and Little Huia
- The beaches have been closed to non-residents only
- The closures are for safety and to ensure road repairs can take place

“While there is road access into Piha, it’s limited and we’re asking people not to go to Piha to go surfing or picnicking, I know we may have a fine weekend coming up but to stay away out of respect for those communities,” Duty controller Mace Ward says.

If you are wanting to check swimming conditions in other areas of Auckland, check the SwimSafe site.
