Spoken Word Poetry event - free

Come and enjoy this session of spoken word poetry at Highland Park Library Sunday 18 September 11am - 12pm.
Spoken word Poetry encompasses the very essence of oral storytelling, creativity, change and connection.
Representing Papakura and the experiences and storytelling of who they are as Māori and children of the pacific, are:
Ivy (Te Rarawa/Ngati Wairere), Hari (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Hako, Ngāti Paoa, Te Arawa) and Taikehu (Waikato, Ngāti Maniapoto) are three of six poets representing Papakura High school in the inter-high school spoken word poetry competition, Word the Frontline - Grand Finals.

Sheldon Rua (Waikato/Tainui, Sa Papali'i) 3 x National HHI champ, SAPC, Word: The Front-Line coach/alumni and Youth advocate,

And Storyteller, people weaver, poet, mentor & educator Zech Soakai (Ha'ato'u, Ha'apai, Tonga/Poutasi, Falealili, Samoa) will be Mcing.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
