This is a fantastic win for the community who submitted overwhelmingly to prohibit freedom camping due to a range of concerns including the regular flooding of the site.
HOWEVER one of the members of the hearing panel, Tau Henere, walked out on the hearing process after stating that he had changed his mind on freedom camping in general and was now opposed to it! He then took offence to a comment from Chair Linda Cooper that he'd supported freedom camping while in government. The hearing deliberation process continued without him.

"The price of water will increase by 2.5 per cent from $1.517 to $1.555 (including GST) per 1,000 litres and the price of wastewater services will increase by an average of 3.3 per cent."
