YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

Jill Smith from Citizens Advice Bureau Far North (CAB)

The unemployment rate for 15-24 year olds is 15.2%. Those not in employment, education or training is 13.8%. This post might help prepare your young family member for that first job interview or training programme.

Check out our youth website - youth.cab.org.nz... It has some very useful information, especially the link "Looking for work" - youth.cab.org.nz...starting-work

The CareerQuest quiz is a useful and simple tool that matches your skills with employment options. It takes about 10 minutes to complete. The more honest your response, the more accurate will be the information it provides. Check it out - www.careers.govt.nz...

For those with a disability, check out this Workbridge link - www.cab.org.nz...

Our volunteers come from teaching, careers guidance and all manner of employment backgrounds, so if you have any queries about preparing yourself for work or training, give us a call on 09 407 9829 or 0800 367 222. Pop in and see us at 6 Cobham Road, Procter Library Building, Kerikeri. Or email us farnorth@cab.org.nz.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
