I am outraged. This morning, at Havelock North New World, I discovered that the price of farmed Bluff salmon has increased by $20 a kg - from an already appalling $52.99 to $72.99 - since last week. It is more expensive than the fish caught from trawlers, that have to brave the treacherous southern oceans in hope of getting a catch.
Adding insult to injury, Tasmanian salmon was for sale, at $52.99.
How can it possibly be more expensive to get fish from a NZ salmon farm than from an Australian salmon farm? Someone is ripping us off big time!
