Chamber Music National Finals
Come and hear the eight best groups in NZ – tomorrow night, Friday 2nd August, in the Michael Fowler Centre, from 6:30pm. You won't believe these are school-aged students playing!
This includes the Virtuoso Strings Octet, with a piece I wrote for them to play in the Contest! Students are from Tawa and Porirua. This is the fifth time a group from Virtuoso Strings has been in the National Finals of the NZCT Chamber Music Contest.
Tickets are free, but must be booked: www.universe.com...
It is also live-streamed: www.chambermusic.co.nz...

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
