Recycling tips from WCC
Wellington City Council has put together a few reminders for us all on how to prepare our recycling properly.
Top tips:
- If you’re not sure what can be recycled, use the tool on the Council’s website (link below).
- When it comes to plastics, it’s as easy as 1,2,5 – they’re the items that can be recycled in Pōneke.
- Remember to wash all recyclables, but don’t squash them. Squashed items are harder for our recycling facility to accurately sort and so can end up being sent to landfill.
- Don’t forget you must remove lids from everything: bottles, jars, containers. Lids can be dropped off to be recycled at the Tip Shop at the Southern Landfill, some community centres, or at the Sustainability Trust, 2 Forresters Lane.
