Let's get J'ville moving?
I've just added my comment to nzta.mysocialpinpoint.com... If you haven't done so, take a look and tell them what you think. This is what I wrote:
Johnsonville has very steep topography. The number of cycle commuters from Johnsonville is negligible. I support cyclists, having been one myself, but they are a tiny minority and usually young, very fit, and male. Cycle lanes will not get people giving up their cars. What we need is a big park-and-ride building at the mall to take up all the cars which are currently blocking local streets. Then commuters will drive down from the hills and take the bus or train.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
