Free Japonica Apples
I just put another cartoon of Japonica apples outside our gate at 200 Roslyn Road, Levin - free for the taking. Please don't confuse these with ordinary apples though as you can't eat these. They're great for making jelly, a bit like quince jelly, or just shine up a few and put them in a bowl on the table. They emit a lovely perfume and last for months.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
