MP has no plans to run for Wellington mayoralty.
We will never know if Rongotai MP Paul Eagle would make a good Wellington mayor.
Eagle told Stuff he has no plans to stand for Wellington mayor in 2022.
Stuff understands Eagle has held a number of meetings with key political players about a potential mayoral run in two years’ time.
The first-term MP previously spent seven years on Wellington City Council, including one year as deputy mayor, and has long been rumoured to have his eyes on the mayoralty. He has told Stuff he was committed to seeing out his term as an MP.
Do you think he would make a good mayor?
