We had agreat evening last Wed. It was our Humorous speech contest and table topics contest. Gabi won the humorous speech contest and Vonny won our table topics contest. Both did us proud at the Area G4 contest, finishing second in both competitions. Well done ladies. Also to cap of the night Nicola Robertson won the award for Toastmaster of the Year. Well deserved Nicola your won of many jewels at the Hornby toastmasters club. Come along and learn how to speak with confidence, learn how to do a presentation. Learn new skills, be a better leader. Great if your job envoles speaking to groups of people. We are a very friendly and supportive club, no pressure to join. Just come along and watch.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
