4,300 heart patients are discharged from Auckland hospitals each year.
10,000 people die of heart disease every year in New Zealand (that's one every 55 minutes). Almost a third can be prevented.
36% of all deaths each year in NZ are from heart disease and stroke

Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation with psychological counselling support and advice on diet can reduce hospital readmission in the first year of a heart attack by almost 30%

Heartbeats is sponsoring a talk on Exercise for Heart recovery, by Matt Wood, M.Sc. registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, AUT Millennium, on 7th May at Hibiscus Coast Community House (behind Estuary Arts Centre), Orewa.
