Regional fuel tax and the shift to public transport
Rodney's public transport patronage in August and September 2018 has increased nine per cent compared with a year earlier. This is high compared to the one to two per cent increase recorded in the region's more central suburbs. Auckland Council says this is thanks to the 11.5 cent a litre Auckland regional fuel tax which came into effect in July last year.
Did the fuel tax encourage you to make the switch to public transport? To what extent are Rodney's public transport options adequate enough to support patronage? What more should be done to free up our roads and help north Auckland residents access central commodities?
