There’s a lot happening across the Wellington region this weekend. Please check our website or Metlink Commuter App before your travel.
- Industrial action by some members of the Tramways Union will continue over the weekend, although we expect minimal disruption to services.
- Spring into Tawa will close part of Main Road in Tawa on Saturday 27. Route 60 will be diverted.
- Te Ara Tapere ki Pōneke (Open Streets in Wellington) event will close some CBD streets on Sunday 28. Routes 3, 18e and 21 will be diverted.
- Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Meghan are in town over the weekend and will be visiting Pukeahu, National War Memorial Park on Sunday 28 afternoon. Route 3 services are unlikely to be affected but we will let you know if they are.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
