If you're in the Eastern Ward, you should have received my leaflet in your mailbox. This sets out my priorities and some suggestions for improvements in the eastern suburbs. Come and chat: Kilbirnie Lyall Bay Community Centre, Bay Road (opposite Woolworths/Countdown) every Saturday 10am-11am until 4 October. Or come to the Hataitai meet the candidates meeting at Wellington Cadet Centre at 393 Evans Bay Parade (opposite Cog Park) 1-4pm Sunday 14 September.
I have made it my mission to ensure that construction of the second Mt Victoria tunnel starts before the end if the current parliamentary term, as promised by transport minister Chris Bishop, and that it has fit-for-purpose walking and cycling facilities as well as the traffic lanes. I also want a new bus lane on Cobham Drive (by slightly widening the road, not taking a traffic lane). NZTA would pay for this, not ratepayers.
