With overseas tourists set to return to NZ shortly, we're looking at doing a light-hearted piece on the odd questions Kiwis have been asked about NZ. You may have seen the post doing the rounds on social media at the moment asking whether English is spoken here and suggesting NZ is a state of Australia (see below). Is this NZ or some alternative 3rd world reality? No lamb in any shop in Wgtn/NZ? at Christmas! Supermarkets have stopped selling even sliced lamb! I rang every supermarket, butchers and Mad Butcher. Most had none; some only shaved, tough old, shoulder chops needing 8 hours slow cooking. I was repeatedly told we cant get it! Some said its too dear to stock!
Next thing we know the supermarkets will be importing our lamb from UK at half the price.
Time to reinstate CARP? (campaign against rising prices)
