Obviously, this person will also be the one that is called upon each year to don the red suit to go out and about posing for photos, handing out presents and just be an all-around nice charitable person.

This Watch covers the possibility of northwest gales becoming severe at times in exposed parts of the Canterbury High Country north of Mt Taylor, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa.

Although many people were for the idea, some parents felt "blindsided" that they weren't forewarned that Hana Kōkō would be stepping in for Santa Claus. The parade's organisers have since apologised.

Each year we see the big smiles on the faces of the children who line the Main Road and it makes all the lead-up work and investment very worthwhile. A special thanks to all those who contributed their time to make your Parade another success.
