Common pheasant/ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) - a very brief surprise encounter yesterday on the path beside the Waimanu Lagoon in Waikanae. Bird #72 in 2022."

Mute swan (Cygnus olor) at Henley Lake in Masterton - nobody has written a poem about this guy. Interesting aside - I read "Stop all the Clocks" at my father's funeral many years ago, it is still one of my favourites. Knowledge of swans aside, Auden was a genius. Bird #78 in 2022."
