The Music Learning Centre in Redwood has a couple of weekly lesson slots immediately available for violin, piano and cello students.

My wife, Liz Sneyd, is our violin teacher. She is a Phd in Maths and Violin, has a Queen's Service Medal for Music Education and a NZ Secondary Schools' Teaching Certificate. She has been a professional musician and teacher for 30+ years.

I am the piano teacher. I have a Masters degree in Composition, Licentiate Diploma in Piano from Trinity College, and a Queen's Service Medal for Music Education. I have been a professional musician since the 1980s, as a pianist, viola player, composer, arranger, music typesetter (very experienced on Sibelius software) and teacher. I can also help with advanced Theory and Composition.

Our son Benjamin Sneyd-Utting is our cello teacher. He has a B.Mus. in Cello and Composition, and an Associate Diploma in Cello from Trinity College. He's in his Honours year at the NZ School of Music at Victoria University this year.

If you're interested, please enquire about lesson-times and fees via email or phone: sneydutting@gmail.com or 027-630-7435. We have violins available for hire, and teach students of all ages!

Our Tawa RSA is running a Community Bowls program this summer and we invite all members of the community to take part.
We invite you to take part by way of a work, family or community team.
Our venue is at 89 Oxford Street Tawa.

The format is 3 players to a team. (Player rotation is welcome as people often have other engagements cropping up.)
At least one player should be a ‘non regular’ bowler. We have a supply of bowls for those who need them. Footwear needs to have flat soles, i.e., no heels.
There is a $15.00 entry fee per team ($5.00 per player) payable each game.
We play this as a league.
Play each evening is 1 game, starting 6.00pm and finishing by 7.20pm The format is ‘Bowls3five’ which is the same format as that shown on television’s Sky Sports channels in November/December each year (usually on a Monday
night!). i.e., 2 bowls per player, per end. 2 sets of 5 ends, followed by a one end ‘tie-break’ if necessary. A ‘power play’ in each set.
Sausage sizzle is served at completion of play.
Scheduled dates, all in 2023, are (all on Wednesdays):-

25 January, 1, 8, 15, &; 22 February, 1, &; 8 (reserve day) March.
Please note your diaries to register a team early in the New Year to allow us time to prepare a draw, order food etc.
For further information, please contact

A full life for Helen is one that is surrounded by family. When she first moved to the village, Helen’s husband John was being cared for elsewhere. Now that he is living at the same village, it brings Helen and her family so much happiness and reassurance.
