A new study of 1000 people has found 40 per cent of participants would automatically assume someone coughing or sneezing near them might have Covid-19.
Amid new fears of a community case in Northland, hayfever season could cause more anxiety than ever.
Those with symptoms might be encouraged to be better safe than sorry and stay home, despite knowing it's likely caused by their allergies.
