Metlink are using inaccurate data, ignoring the peak hour use, and while they have said they still have the ability to reinstate the service they refuse to. Thank you to those who appeared before the transport committee on 9 May. Most councillors were interested in our issues but I felt Cr Barabara Donaldson's behaviour was inappropriately aggressive toward us especially when some of our party were clearly nervous and tearful. Metlink staff were I thought also unexpectedly rude and dismissive when we were polite. Our petition has been ignored too. Anyone interested in keeping the number 14 might be best placed emailing the transport committee chair Barbara.Donaldson@gw.govt.nz. We are also asking our kids to collect bus use stats this week to email to the council. I may be naive but I still think the council should be meeting our needs and listening to us!

Council reviews all multi-contract funding arrangements every 3 years. We want to make sure the services we support meet the needs of the wider community. The current proposal is for six months of funding at the same level as last year. In this time, our officers will work with WELCAB to look at their services and the availability of information online so we can use our limited funding and buildings we have to meet as many needs as possible.

Work will begin on Monday next week (11.6.18) and is expected to take six months to complete.
The project includes the construction of a new underground pump station at Volunteer Corner and an upgrade of the pipes beneath Dixon Street that connect to the wastewater mains on Willis Street.
The new infrastructure will help to relieve the pressure on the city’s other pump stations, which importantly will reduce the possibility of overflows into the harbour.
The project team will be employing new real time traffic management tracking, Mooven, to monitor and respond to any impact the works might have on surrounding streets.
For more information, and updates about the project, check out the project page on our website: wellingtonwater.co.nz...

The incidence of bowel cancer in younger adults is rising in New Zealand. 10% of bowel cancer patients are under 50 – that’s more than 300 a year. Each year about 3,000 New Zealanders are diagnosed with the disease and more than 1,200 will die. That’s as many as breast and prostate cancer combined.
