request for top soil
The Hataitai community gardens have just got in the 2 huge planter boxes with thanks from Bunnings Trade New Zealand and the Wellington Menzshed, but I have used the yearly budget buying grapes, raspberries, blackberries and many vegetables, so if I could get donations for topsoil (any spare soil, potting mix or composit you have) and/or strawberry plants you would have my many thanks. I have grown many edible plants ready to go into the planter boxes.
All produce at the community gardens is free to pick, take what you need.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
