Decisions on bus routes at GWRC Committee on Tues 30 Oct
The following decisions at GWRC Sustainable Transport Committee (STC) on 30 Oct re bus routes could be of interest to you:
* "Requested CE to report back to next STC on 5 Dec on pros and cons of splitting route #2 at Miramar vs extending #18 service to the Kilbirnie hub, including the likely service consequences for communities in Miramar/Miramar North and Seatoun/Broadway, and any implications for the #18E service". Route splitting the #2 service could provide a single-seat ride from Miramar North and Strathmore Park to the City, but may have implications for frequency of service.
* "Agreed to further develop a proposal for merging routes #12 and #14 and to consult with affected communities". This would have the advantage of further extending the previously agreed extension of #14 from Hataitai to Kilbirnie, to closer to Rongotai College. It would also provide a direct route from Strathmore Park across the city to Wilton.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
