Our skies have been coloured by smoke blown over from the Australian bushfires, meanwhile Wellingtonians are just stoked if they get to see the sun.
How has your summer been?

Just yesterday, Paul Thompson, the Chief Executive of Radio New Zealand and Willy Macalister, Music Content Director, announced that they would be changing the nature of New Zealand’s only Art Music Radio station – RNZ Concert. They propose that RNZ Concert will cease broadcasting on FM (in order to free up slots), and move to AM and streaming services. Furthermore, they propose that the broadcast be largely automated, delivered by a skeletal crew. It appears to be similar to a constantly evolving Spotify playlist. Gone will be the in-depth shows that showcase New Zealand Art Music and its practitioners.

This is a rare opportunity to visit these beautiful gardens of national significance. The magnificent house is set at the end of a tree-lined avenue, in acres of landscaped gardens. Wander your way through the Scented Walkway, the Oak Cathedral, passing the Sound Shell to the stunning lake area which played a starring role as Lothlorien in Peter Jackson’s first Lord of Rings film. The gardens have been developed over the years in an English Arts and Crafts style, with the touches of European and Japanese water gardens and Australian and New Zealand natives interspersed. Tickets available at Eventfinder.

We have this great opportunity to help to establish a Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Programme in Wellington. The programme is suitable for youth between 11 and 17. If you are a parent who wants your kid(s) to have a head start and confidence in public speaking then this is a good opportunity to sign them up. We need at least 12 youth to start a course. The venue and frequency will be determined once we have the numbers. We also need your involvement in making this a possibility for our youth in this leadership programme. This is still in exploratory stage. So please be patient.
Private Message me with your name and email address if you are interested to be involved or signing up your kids, and I will send you the expression of interest form and more information when I get them from the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Advisor. They are eager to form the first Toastmasters Youth Charter in Wellington. The Charter will be adhere to the Toastmasters International established standards and guidelines.
The below link is some information I got from the Toastmasters International website. Look forward to hearing from you. I've already been in touch with the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Advisor for advice.

"Water is currently off due to a burst main between 287-297 Ohiro Rd Brooklyn. This water outage is also affecting some nearby streets. Wellington Water is onsite however water had to be shut off to get the emergency repairs done. Water will likely be back on in about 3-4 hours.
