Bird Art by 30 Local Artists Now Showing at Petone Foreshore's Artspace Gallery

Alfred Memelink Artspace Gallery

This is Paul Gadsby with one of his five large oil paintings from our current, combined artist exhibition, featuring New Zealand birds. Paul's painting features a rock wren and he titled it 'High Noon' in order to draw our attention to their plight. With warming temperatures, these tiny birds are under increasing threat due to predators moving higher up the slopes due to warming temperatures. Apparently this little bird is our only true alpine bird. The exhibition features a wealth of work in original paintings, prints an sculptures and if you love our birds like our artists do, then this exhibition is a must see.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
