Monster wasp nest
Well, after a (relatively) quiet couple of summers, the vespula wasps have come back big time in some locations! Auckland and the Waikato are reporting big numbers and you may have seen this story about the monster nest found just outside of Nelson. FREE 10-liter emergency water bottles

I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
