Beginners Spin Poi class at Kilbirnie Community Centre starts this week
Playing with poi is a lot of fun! SpinPoi can be done sitting or standing and is suitable for almost everyone. Inspired by traditional poi, it has been adapted by Dr Kate Riegle van West to be a safe and effective exercise, especially for older populations. On top of the usual benefits of exercise, typically people will see improvements in grip strength, attention, focus, balance and coordination. Time: Arrive between 4.45 and 4.55 for a 5pm start

The class is suitable for beginners to intermediate. It will be 45 minutes long and we cover:

o In later sessions, we will start trying some more advanced movements
o Playtime! 20-25 minutes of poi to music
o Cool down
You don't need to book, and can just turn up. But if you want more information, either reply here or message me.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
