The Mt Vic tunnel, a long road to nowhere

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Politicians have been been talking about a second Mt Victoria tunnel since the 1950s.
A second tunnel is a key component in Lets Gets Wellington Moving, although progress on that is at a snail's pace.
This week the Green Party came up with a new idea - two new additional tunnels. The Greens would not block the proposed car tunnel but would like to see two more built.
One would be a dedicated walking and cycling tunnel parallel to the existing Mt Victoria car tunnel, the second would be a light rail tunnel in Newtown, near Wellington Zoo.

What do you think?

Way Back Wednesday

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Hey Neighbourly folk, can you work out who this is and where the picture was taken. The only hint I will give is that it was 1909.

Johnsonville Playcentre is available to hire!

Miyoko from Johnsonville

Hi everyone!

Are you looking for a place to hold your child’s birthday party?

Johnsonville Playcentre is available for hire!

We are an early childhood centre, and our facilities are available to hire during weekends and school holidays (although there will be reduced availability over Christmas).

We have a fantastic outdoor area that includes a fort, a bike track, two sandpits, two slides, a big deck with café blinds that can be rolled down in bad weather and swings.

We have a full kitchen and kids’ tables and chairs. Inside we have toys galore, including cars, trains, blocks, dress ups, a big doll’s house, puzzles and picture books. Lots of space and lots of fun!

As a non-Playcentre member you can hire our centre for up to 4 hours for $85 (and it's $25/hour after that) plus a $35 cleaning fee. We will also require $100 bond, which will be returned to you after the party.

Please note we are egg and nut free (eggs in cakes are fine).

If you are interested in finding out more, or booking your next birthday party at our centre, please email hire.jvpc@gmail.com.
