Matariki ki Pōneke starts tonight!

Simone Borgstede from Wellington City Council

It's nearly here! ✨🔥

Our Matariki ki Pōneke celebrations start this Thursday 23 June with Ahi Kā, an immersive journey through fire, light and stories along the Wellington Waterfront.

Each night from Thursday 23 - Sunday 26 June between 6pm – 9pm enjoy large scale projections, soundscapes, performances, installations and of course – Ahi (Fire). Check out the sneak peek of the Storybox projection on Te Papa!

Then on Friday 24 June at 7.15pm, celebrate the Māori New Year with a dazzling fireworks display. There will be food trucks along the waterfront on Friday only and reusable cups and crockery for you to borrow to keep waste at a minimum.

And to top it all off, there will be free music performances and art activities on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 June at Te Wharewaka o Poneke, featuring local artists like Amba Holly, Louis Baker, DJ Gooda, IA and much more!

COVID-19 delays to recycling

Simone Borgstede from Wellington City Council

Unfortunately, 50% of our waste contractors are currently unwell with COVID-19 or other seasonal bugs, which means there will be significant delays to kerbside waste collections.

Kerbside rubbish and co-mingle recycling (wheelie bins and bags) are being prioritised, but there may be some delays. If yours is missed, please leave it out overnight for collection the next day.
Glass collections will be put on hold from Monday 27 June for an estimated two weeks.

You can still drop your glass items off for free at the Recycling Centre at the Southern Landfill or stockpile clean items until collections restart.

We wish our contractors a speedy recovery.

Thank you all for your patience 🙏

QUIZ NIGHT invitation - a fun night out in J/ville NEXT SUNDAY at "1841" for a GREAT cause!!

Graeme from Johnsonville

We are in need of more keen quizzers to help our cause. Come and join us next Sunday 10th July for a quiz run by the professional team at 1841, whether you’re the go to team, quiz masters or just there for the drinks, everyone is welcome.

Judgeford Environmental Protection Society (JEPS) is a registered non-profit society which was established by Judgeford residents to petition an extension of the use of the Willowbank Quarry for 35 years. We are fundraising to assist with costs for experts to complete environmental, noise, traffic and dust impact testing as well as planners and lawyers all of which are required to support our submission to oppose the Quarry extension.

For more information about this cause or to make a donation please use the following form form.jotform.com...

Gather your mates, team numbers are up to you, the more people you can bring along the better your chances of taking out first place.

There will be a raffle and a silent auction to mix the night up and of course 1841 drinks and food available for purchase.

We welcome your support for our community's cause.

Follow the link to purchase your tickets and we look forward to seeing you there.
