Donate your curtains this winter
Wellington Curtain Bank needs 300 more pairs of curtains before the end of winter to meet demand. Supported by Sustainability Trust, the Curtain Bank provides free, lined curtains to low-income families who need a hand to warm up their homes. We upcycle donated curtains and need a ready supply to support the more than 500 families a year who apply for them. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
