We Say/You Say: Lockdown low-down
Kia ora Upper Hutt,
What has been some good news in your neighbourhood that's happened during the lockdown?
Kia ora neighbours, we're getting a lot of stories about Covid-19 saturating our newsfeed and the media as of late and we're keen on helping put a damper on that. We'd love for you to tell us some of the more light-hearted stories that you think deserve a shoutout.
Maybe it's a community hero that's been helping out those that are self-isolating, something you discovered while out exercising in your bubble, or something you're doing to help pass the time.
Let us know in the comments below and don't forget to type NFP if you don't want your comment featured in the Upper Hutt Leader.
REAL WORLD EMERGING OUT OF FICTON
Years ago watched a movie depicting the near future where the nation's leader (President) and his henchmen and women were the great blatant liars for the vast majority of the population; there were cures for everything if one was wealthy and robots had taken over all the jobs that were chores for humans be it physical or mental.
The very next step was robot takeover - but that is another movie or two.
So with what one has seen of Trump since 2015, he is the first of the persistent leadership liars (over 65,000 lies inside 10 years) and has surrounded himself with other right wing liars, criminals, misinformation providers and thugs. Trump has also implanted dozens and dozens of billionaires and millionaires into his fold and at the helm of these are people who are the top money spinners in space, high tech and robotics like Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos.
The rich get richer and the middle class and below get poorer and are expendable. And that has been happening for a number of years but is now accelerating.
At the same time 2025 could be the year where all cancers can be cured, all body transplants can succeed and so on - for those wealthy enough to afford the costs.
