I have not done anything like this before so please excuse if my wording isn't quite right.

As most of us are aware the Upper Hutt City Council have proposed to raise their Rates by near on 20% each year over the next 3 years.

If your UHCC Rates are around $2500 per year, after the 3 years of increases they will be approximately $4300 which equals an extra $35ish per week. This will not only hit homeowners, rentals, hirage of venues etc but will be impacting the community as the costs will be passed on with such large increases over a short period of time.

As I am outraged about this, I have created a petition on change.org to hopefully be able to show the council how many are not for these massive increases in a short period of time.

If you would like to support this petition please go to the link and add your voice.

Thanks in advance.

The good news is now there’s an easy solution to all that tyre waste. It’s called Tyrewise and is New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme.

Tyrewise ensures that tyres in Aotearoa New Zealand are recycled or repurposed properly, saving millions from going to the landfill.

Not the biggest pothole in NZ but Alexander Road in Trentham has one of its round-abouts with a family of potholes on the roading making it difficult to avoid them.

The Upper Hutt City Council was quick and ridiculous to reduce the speed limit of all Alexander Road from 80kg to 50kg but not so quick to repair this multiple of potholes.

I must not hold my breath because nearly 4 years ago I held a discussion with the UHCC roading chief on the appalling state of the busy Ward Street road in Wallaceville and he agreed but asked me which would you prefer - fixing up Fergusson Drive or Ward Street as a priority. Well nothing has been done either to Fergusson Drive.

I am hoping the new Government with its plans to reverse some speed restrictions and introduce reducing speed restrictions on some roads, will prompt the UHCC to wake up their ideas of Alexander Road which in most part is non urban residential housing.

The human body is designed to move. Movement is crucial to how well our bodies are able to regulate essential daily functions. 🏃🤸‍♂🏊🚴‍♀
By the same token, increased prevalence of sedentary behaviours is having a profound negative impact on our overall health and wellness 🧑‍💻📺📱
Some of the potential negative effects are:

💥 Increases chronic inflammation
Increases risk of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, cancer
🦠 Increases chance of metabolic disorders
Increases likelihood of developing musculo-skeletal disorders like osteoporosis
🤯 Can impact mental health (depression, anxiety), and contribute to development of cognitive disorders later in life (dementia, Alzheimer's)
The body needs movement to function. Low fitness (or exercise capacity) is the strongest predictor of death 💀. So the equation is simple:
Movement ➕ Consistency = HEALTHIER YOU 🤩🙌
This does not mean we have to jump from a sedentary lifestyle straight to a comprehensive gym program 🏋️‍♀.
Research shows that committing to as little as 30 MINUTES of mild/moderate exercise per day can vastly decrease the prevalence of the health complications mentioned above! And that still leaves 23.5 hours for everything else!
So start adding 30 minutes of walking 🚶, jogging 🏃‍♀, swimming 🏊‍♀, cycling 🚴, dancing 💃 or yoga 🤸‍♂ to your daily routine, and start taking charge of YOUR health. 😤
Your body will love you for it! 😇✨
