MetService is predicting some really nasty weather from this evening until Tuesday morning. It has issued the following warnings for STRONG WIND and HEAVY RAIN for the Wellington Region.
WELLINGTON and the KAPITI COAST south of Otaki Valid: 6 hours from 7:00 pm Monday to 1:00 am Tuesday Forecast: Period of rain with locally heavy falls. Expect 50 to 60mm to accumulate, peak intensities 10 to 20mm per hour this evening.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
