A dead whale estimated to be 12-metres long has been carried into the Port of Tauranga jammed onto the bulbous bow on the front of a cargo ship.

Department of Conservation staff thought it was a Bryde's whale and more than 12m long, although not all of the animal was visible out of the water when it was moved on Wednesday, DOC Tauranga Rotorua area operations manager Jeff Milham said.

Step 1 – Examine the Area
Begin the process of removing mould on windows by identifying every point where it exists. Examine the glass and frames of the windows thoroughly to make sure that you know where every instance of mould occurs. This makes it easier to remove it all at the same time. Do not overlook the inner surface of the window frames; open the windows and check inside thoroughly.

Step 2 – Dry Clean
If, when you come to clean the mould on windows, the panes and frames are dry, begin by putting on a respiratory mask and using a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose spores. A trip to Mauao is on the must-do list for most visitors to Tauranga, but maintaining the track has carried a $1.35 million cost to ratepayers over the last three years.

While the majority of that figure has been budgeted expenditure from Tauranga City Council, but unbudgeted expenditure is becoming more common, forcing some to question if the walking track can remain free forever.
