Porirua Sports Awards returns
The awards unfortunately could not be held in 2020 or 2021 due to changes in Covid-19 Alert levels, but the Porirua City Council-run event is back this year, and will be held at Te Rauparaha Arena on 2 November.
Awards categories are young sportsman and sportswoman; individual sportsman and sportswoman; team; disabled sportsperson; coach; volunteer; and service to sport.
The qualifying period for the awards spans the 12 months to 31 August 2022 – go to our website and search ‘Awards in Porirua’ to find the nomination form.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
