The flats complex on Te Pene Avenue, Tītahi Bay was built in 1974 to provide low-cost pensioner accommodation, it is now worth around $3.3 million.
There was much debate around the council table during the vote on the Long Term Plan on Thursday, which would set the focus and budget for council over the next 30 years.
Porirua social services recently cited housing as the “most urgent and pressing issue” facing families they worked with.
Do you support the council selling social housing?

This weeks contribution comes from Louise Thomas.
"Is that a little blue sky this afternoon? I feel like a mole rat emerging after a week in the burrow. This grey warbler/riroriro (Gerygone igata) seems pretty happy to see the sun. He's posing in a cedar tree for Christmas cards."

Just to let you know that if you are planning on coming to the NZ Art Show this weekend, it is probably best to take the train. Here's info from the NZ Art Show website:
***UPDATE, just been informed Kapiti line will be replaced by buses this weekend too...never mind, car option might be best still for Kapiti, lol. ***
"Jervois Quay, in front of the TSB Arena, will be closed in both directions commencing Thursday June 3rd from 7pm until 6am Tuesday June 8th. Much needed storm water pipes are being installed.
The NZ Art Show is taking place in the TSB Arena over this Queens Birthday period. We apologise for the inconvenience but we know that the effort to visit the NZ Art Show will be worth it!
Southbound detours will be in place along Featherston Street, Hunter Street, Victoria Street and Willeston Street and northbound drivers will have a range of options along Lambton Quay, The Terrace and SH1.
The Wilson carpark underneath Queens Wharf will be available as normal – access will be via via Lady Elizabeth Lane, opposite Whitmore Street.
Traffic will be controlled and it will be clearly signposted. A separate temporary drop off and loading area will be available for picking up your purchases.
See the map below for the closure details and rest assured we will keep you updated at all times.
We thank you for your patience and encourage you to visit the NZ Art Show – so much creative NZ talent all under one roof – don’t let road works get in your way!
I can assure you that we will do everything we can to minimise the impact, the timing is not ideal and we are disappointed, but this work is important for the city and we remain positive."
Many thanks and hope to see you there!
Micheline

"My ideal home would be one with a nice backyard, that is big enough for me to explore and potter around in the sun as I love toasting myself on a sunny day. I very much enjoy my daily walks so would love a family that would be keen to go out, explore with me and show me all the wonderful things out there.
As I want to keep all the cuddles and tummy rubs for myself I am looking for a home as an only dog. Don't be fooled by my size, I can be cheeky and have jumped fences before, so am needing a home that has high fencing. I could live with older kids that are confident around big boisterous ladies like myself.
I do however come with a medical waiver my new home would have to be aware of. So if you think I'm the girl for you please contact the canine team for more information."

At just three months old, Piglet was covered in one of the worst cases of mange the SPCA vets had seen.
Piglet’s skin was red, raw and weeping. Mange is a debilitating skin disease caused by parasitic mites. Left untreated like this, it is horrific and extremely painful.
Found wandering the streets alone, the disease had ravaged Piglet's skin, and she was in significant pain and discomfort.
Her medication is expensive and SPCA vets say she will need a lot of care.
