Pharmac, reinstate Medtronic insulin pump funding!
www.change.org...
Help us reach our goal of 5,000 signatures to get Pharmac to reinstate Medtronic Insulin Pump funding for Type 1 Diabetics!!!!...
So why am I trying to get this out there? Our daughter was 7 1/2mths old when diagnosed so we NEEDED a pump with very low dosages. She is now 4 years old and still a small build and we are still using small dosages (something that won't even go through on the other pumps or manual pens!!!). What is a game-changer is that it is waterproof and with a child that loves the water we now feel at ease. And LOVE those nights that we don't have to wake up every 2 hours and check her blood sugars. Those dreaded sleepless baby nights did NOT go away until we were fully settled with the Medtronic 780G pump 3 years later, only alerting us to low and super high blood sugar levels.
We urge Pharmac to reconsider its recent decision to reverse funding for the Medtronic insulin pump Guardian 4 hybrid closed-loop system for those living with Type 1 diabetes. Furthermore, include the G4 CGM in the proposed funding plan. This decision has left many users shocked and concerned about their ability to effectively manage their health.
The Medtronic system boasts the most advanced algorithms used in 150 countries, crucial for managing blood glucose levels and ensuring the well-being and peace of mind of countless individuals. For many of us, access to this technology is not just a convenience but a lifeline, enabling us to live fulfilling lives and stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible.
Switching to a new insulin pump or CGM can be a challenging and stressful process for us as parents let alone teaching the kindy teachers how to use it all over again.
So, if you could please give a little time to sign this petition to help little ones like our daughter have access to the best technology that suits their bodies that would be greatly appreciated.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
