Are you a fan of fast fashion?

Kelly Dennett Reporter from Sunday Star Times

Many of us grew up flocking to Glassons, Hallenstein's, Cotton On and Just Jeans for our hardy perennials - jeans, t-shirts, summer dresses - and some of us still do.

Many of us grew up flocking to Glassons, Hallenstein's, Cotton On and Just Jeans for our hardy perennials - jeans, t-shirts, summer dresses - and some of us still do.

But we're increasingly becoming aware that buying a $20 t-shirt that won't last the distance isn't that great for the environment.

While some of us are pledging to only buy second hand or to invest in statement pieces - more expensive items that will last a long time- not all of us have that luxury.

We're wanting to speak to someone who isn't giving up their fast fashion any time soon, whether it's for economic or style reasons, personal choice or indifference to the environment. Maybe you're a student who likes the choice chain store fashion brings, or perhaps you're a parent whose children are growing too fast to risk splashing out on expensive clothing.

If this sounds like you, please email kelly.dennett@stuff.co.nz.

Sunday’s Australia Day open air fundraising concert takes place in the grounds of Caccia Birch.
There’s plenty else happening with a matinee performance by the NZ Secondary Students’ Choir, Woodville Moto GP, annual Smallholders Auction, Amplify Rock Festival, UCI International ‘Gravel & Tar’ Cycle Race with associated community events, and the Lunar New Year Festival to welcome in the Year of the Rat.

Giant XTC Junior Bike

Jacqui from Hokowhitu

This is our son’s bike which has hardly been used and simply outgrown it. Overall in very good condition, does have some spots of surface rust on some of the bright work as per photos but doesn’t affect the serviceability of the bike. Very tidy overall.

Price: $120

Bird in search of home

Lera from Highbury - Westbrook

Lovely dove in search of a permanent home.

We have recently had a dove descent on our home who we do not have the adequate capacity to look after. He is fairly friendly and social. He seem to suffer from no grievous health conditions - wings uncliped but has difficulty flying.
