4 Feb 18:27 smoke from car crash SH60 near Tasman View Rd, car on opposite side of road, smoke seen may have been stream or dust from air bags, left with police.

6 Feb 17:29 smoke from pines trees at Kina, found a permit pruning fire, left with owner.

15 Feb 19:30 glass house on fire off Brook View Hts, found a unpermitted fire of pallets and some carpets. With Motueka Fire put fire out and told owner he needs a permit and not to burn carpet.

Safety Tip – Be safe.

Ashes / ember in incinerator, fireplaces can stay hots for a few day, when incinerator is cool empty ashes out and sprinkle in a safe place, eg. in a garden

On the Weekend of the 3rd to 5th of March the Mapua Volunteer Fire brigade is holding our 51st Jubilee. The brigade was form on the 19th Feb 1972. With the help of the Progress league and members of the Mapua area and the Waimea County council, the 1943 Ford V8 fire engine was brought from Westport, Land was brought from the Baigent family and money raised to build the fire station. Here are some of the first brigade members, Ted Perry, Frank Davidson Sr, Jim Radcliffe, Terry Sale, Andy Brown, John Gibson, John Hawthorne, Neil Henderson, Honk Perry , Frank Rodd, Davis Sparrow, Owen Houliston, J Ware, Murray Sutton

We are going to have an open station between 11AM and 2PM on the Sunday the 5th.

You are welcome to come to meet the crew and see the fire trucks and fire equipment.

We are also looking for some new members to join the brigade, We are looking person who would be available day time.
