We are hearing reports of tap water containing sand in some parts of Lower Hutt. Has anyone been impacted by this?

I have been increasingly concerned by the speed of vehicles, and not the least of which trucks at the Northern end of Bouverie Street (the residential end) by customers of the business units in the street, shift change staff as well as delivery vehicles to these, and when you add to that, the Friday and Saturday night boy racers, who use predominantly the Mitre 10 carpark for their meets. And, now with Gilmours opening, the amount of traffic has increased. I am wondering whether the introduction of speed control measures are needed in our street..........speed humps? speed limiting islands? Maybe only allowing trucks to come in from the southern end?.......open to any suggestions that may help. Addressing the southern endnof Bouverie, with cars parked on both sides of the road, it makes it tight to drive down. The bend by The Dominion Post/Gilmours/Mitre 10 - I have also found motorists pulling out, thinking it is apart of the street, when in fact this is a driveway, so maybe this also needs to be addressed? Making one side atleast with marked yellow lines, could help this? Signage? As I have said, this is not just a noise issue, it is a safety issue. I am looking at feedback in regards to keeping our Street safe.

This plan change could cause loss of sunlight especially in the winter, dampness, loss of privacy, flooding problems, noise, properties devalued, traffic congestion and most of all our beautiful garden city will be ruined forever. We need balance in our city and small areas of two storey buildings is high enough in our earthquake prone city and building apartments in the CBD overlooking the river will be a solution for the CBD and help retail businesses in the city. Hutt City needs to desperately fill up the empty shops along High Street and Queens Drive to make our city thrive again and building apartments create more shoppers to the area.
