Keeping Bouverie Street Safe
I had put up a post last year in regards to this, and its been brought to my attention again with the opening of Gilmours in the last couple of weeks. I have been increasingly concerned by the speed of vehicles, and not the least of which trucks at the Northern end of Bouverie Street (the residential end) by customers of the business units in the street, shift change staff as well as delivery vehicles to these, and when you add to that, the Friday and Saturday night boy racers, who use predominantly the Mitre 10 carpark for their meets. And, now with Gilmours opening, the amount of traffic has increased. I am wondering whether the introduction of speed control measures are needed in our street..........speed humps? speed limiting islands? Maybe only allowing trucks to come in from the southern end?.......open to any suggestions that may help. Addressing the southern endnof Bouverie, with cars parked on both sides of the road, it makes it tight to drive down. The bend by The Dominion Post/Gilmours/Mitre 10 - I have also found motorists pulling out, thinking it is apart of the street, when in fact this is a driveway, so maybe this also needs to be addressed? Making one side atleast with marked yellow lines, could help this? Signage? As I have said, this is not just a noise issue, it is a safety issue. I am looking at feedback in regards to keeping our Street safe.

I dance in the sky with green and gold, a spectacle few are lucky to behold; I’m best seen in the south, a celestial sight—what am I, lighting up the New Zealand night?
