It is a large A3 (297mmX420mm) calendar on 150gsm gloss art paper, with the cover on 300gsm gloss art board. Printed on one side and spiral bound, this means that each month and the cover are a frameable art-quality high resolution print for you to cut out when the month is finished. I have to decide on final print numbers by Friday, so if you would like one let me know. A calendar will cost NZ$35, inclusive of GST and postage within New Zealand, or you can get a $8 discount ($27.00) if you can collect directly from me in Woburn, Lower Hutt. You can preorder on louise@louisethomas.co.nz (or message me if you prefer). Payment on pick-up or I can send you a GST invoice for deposit into my bank account when they are ready to post. We rely on donations to be able to achieve the work we do to ensure seniors are not left lonely, that they have groceries delivered, and are well taken care of and informed. Our volunteers always work hard and make many sacrifices to reach out to older people across the Wellington Region.

We are extra proud of our volunteer team in 2020 as they stepped up during Covid-19 and ensured hundreds of seniors had someone to talk to, during and after, lockdown. They made thousands of phone calls and even delivered groceries to seniors who couldn’t get down to the supermarket. They are fantastic, and we wouldn’t be able to achieve all we do without them.

That’s why we want to say a big thank to them all this Christmas. We would love to show them how much they mean to us and to older people across the Region. Can you help us do this?

Whittaker's and Annah Stretton have generously donated goods for our volunteers. But we are in need of more help. If you can help us or know of someone or a business that can, please email me at volunteer@acwellington.org.nz

Thank you very much.

They have a murmuration most evenings somewhere along the river, often up by the Ewen Bridge. Although common in New Zealand, their numbers have sadly halved in the last thirty years in their native Europe where they form an important part of the ecosystem, such as controlling insects like grass grub. I snapped this guy last Friday when the weather was not so good, but he still caught a few rays of light in the top of a pōhutukawa. The other picture is from earlier in the year when a group of young starlings (you can tell they are young by the brown heads) were wheeling around over the Hikoikoi Reserve.

Would you feel safe at the theatre"

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

The theatre industry is calling for a change to regulations, which would see them doing away with social distancing and enforcing masks.

Those involved in the industry believe it is unfair you can 80 people on a bus you can only have a maximum of 100 people at a theatre. What do you think?
