Wild birds of New Zealand 2022 calendar - kererū print giveaway
Thanks everyone for all your calendar pre-orders. As a way to say thank you, I'll be giving away 10 A3 (print size on A3 sheet is 27X29cm) art prints of this lovely kererū drawing by my daughter Caitlin Thomas-Riley. Winners will be drawn on Tuesday, 5 October from those that have pre-ordered a calendar.
Caitlin is just finishing her third year as a computer science/computer graphics student at Victoria University. She has gained As in illustration and will next year be undertaking her Masters.
If you would like to pre-order a calendar, they are $28 each (for a large A3-size), payable when the calendars are ready to be picked up from Woburn, Lower Hutt (possibly the end of this month/early October, but may be delayed at the printers because of lockdown). Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
